STOURPORT ON SEVERN BRASS BAND

"LISTEN TO OUR BAND"

Page updated 9th April 1999

We haven't made a CD or tape recording to date. However, our ex-Musical Director - David Bishop-Rowe, has a portable Mini Disc Player/Recorder and a CD Writer :-)

He has recorded three pieces of our repertoire in Spring 1999 and so I have converted these to Real-Audio file format so you can hear them while viewing our pages.

Some of you may be asking "What's this Real-Audio format?".

It's become a very useful audio (and video) add-in tool for being able to hear and see multimedia clips from Internet sites.

Normal recorded music is held in a WAV standard file which can be very large and not suitable for downloading from the Internet.

Real Audio overcomes this by using a compressed file format making the file size very much smaller. Real Audio Player (obtainable absolutely free!) will start playing the file after it has been fully downloaded to your computer .

To try out this I have loaded 3 excerpts from a recording of the March "Death or Glory". Each file is about 60Kb long, about 30 secs playing time.

The recordings are not of the highest quality as they were done on some ones lap with an ordinary microphone - but they are live recordings of us!<G>

March - "Death or Glory"

Also better known as played in the film "Brassed Off" and that we shall be playing in the stage version at The Grand Theatre, Wolverhampton between the 25th and 29th May 1999.

Excerpt 1 - Start and the first section - 23 seconds
Excerpt 2 - First Bass solo section - 38 seconds
Excerpt 3 - The Trio with repeat - 38 seconds
