Band Picture June 1997 Thumbnail

This is Stourport-On-Severn Brass Band. The left hand picture was taken at a concert at Stourport-on-Severn High School in June 1997 and there have been a few changes in the personnel since then. Please click on the image for a closer look. A new image reflecting the current personel should be here soon. On the right is a picture of the band on stage at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre alongside the actors from 'Brassed Off'. Again, click the image for a better look.

An up-to-date listing of the band personnel can be found here.

A brief history of the band can be found by following this link and you can find out about our engagements here. For the latest Stourport Band news please click here

Until October 1999 we rehearsed at The Fountain Pub, Habberley near Kidderminster on Tuesday and Friday evenings in our own room at the top of a very steep set of stairs. Not much fun when it comes to getting the timps up and down!

However, we were informed that the pub was to be sold and redeveloped by about November 1999 which caused us to have to find a new home. Luckily, after local newspaper and radio appeals The Heath Hotel & Country Club only a few miles away near Bewdley came to our resue with the offer of storage and rehearsal facilities only interfered mainly around Christmas when the area is used for private parties. We are very greatful for the kind offer of the hotel management and the Jarvis national hotel chain for their hosting.

The band is currently graded Second Section nationally for 2003. We also recently qualified for the National Finals in March of this year and will be flying up to represent the Midlands in Dundee on September 20th/21st 2003.

The band has a very friendly atmosphere and most players congregate in the bar after rehearsals on a Thursday night (and sometimes on a Tuesday too!) for the odd pint or two. We are always keen to welcome new players of a good standard and so if you would like more details please email me at the address shown below.
